Why Subaru?
The first word in our school's name is "Safe", and the vehicles we choose in which to instruct have to live up to that promise. That's why we go with Subaru. The 2020 Subaru Impreza, like so many Subarus that came before it, is an Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and Highway Loss Data Institute (HLDI) Top Safety Pick, receiving the high marks possible in all areas. Take a look for yourself.
Active Safety Features:
EyeSight - has been found to reduce rear-end crashes with injuries by up to 85%. It monitors traffic movement, optimizes cruise control, and warns you if you sway outside your lane.
Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control - automatically adjusts speed to maintain selected distance from the vehicle in front of you, bringing you to a full stop if necessary. It also detects lane markings to help you stay centered.
Lane Keep Assist and Sway Warning - monitors your position and will alert you if you stray out of your lane
Pre-Collision Braking - applies full braking force in emergency situations, helping to avoid or reduce frontal impacts. An IIHS study found that this lowers the rate of pedestrian-related injuries by up to 35%
Pre-Collision Throttle Management - detects objects in front of the vehicle that you are likely to hit and reduces the power from the engine to help minimize the possible impact force and frontal impact damage
Blind-Spot Detection with Lane Change Assist and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert - designed to assist the driver by monitoring the rear and side areas of the vehicle during a lane change or reversing
Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) - electronic stability control utilizes sensors that constantly monitor wheel speeds, steering angle, brake pressure, vehicle yaw rate, and lateral g-forces. If VDC detects a difference between the driver's intended path and the one the vehicle is actually taking, VDC applies braking power and/or reduces engine torque to help correcting vehicle path.
4-wheel Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) - includes Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD)
Brake Assist - when emergency braking is detected by how quickly the brake pedal is pressed, maximum brake pressure is immediately applied
Brake Override System - if both brake and accelerator pedals are pressed simultaneously, the system reduces the operation of the accelerator pedal to help prevent unintentional vehicle acceleration
Auto-Dimming Interior and Exterior Mirrors - detects glare and darkens automatically to protect your vision
Traction Control System (TCS)
Daytime Running Lights (DRL)
Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
Rear Vision Camera
The 2020 Subaru Impreza Sport also includes many passive safety features, such as SRS, whiplash protection front seats, individual rear-seat head restraints, and height-adjustable 3-point front seatbelts.
Did you know...?
97% of Imprezas sold in the last 10 years are still on the road today.
Imprezas retain their value better than any other vehicle in their class.
